Every institute has a first day. This one's was in 1974, when Mrs. Santhakumari decided Wellington deserved a properly taught, properly certified place to learn Typewriting and Shorthand — not a shortcut, a standard.

That decision is still the reason the institute runs the way it does today: a government-approved curriculum and fees, English and Tamil taught properly, and the same personal attention, fifty years on.
